It's techie week again

The Consumer Electronics Show and Macworld Expo are both underway, with Microsoft's Windows Vista and possible Apple announcements expected.

So, it's techie time of year again, with the massive Consumer Electronics Show due to properly kick off in Las Vegas today, and with the Macworld Expo taking place in San Francisco this week too.

The former is expected to be dominated by the latest in high definition TV technology and in new and competing devices aiming to deliver that much talked about digital home, with the vision whereby a home's broadband connected PC becomes the main content hub, with hifis, radios and TVs around the house taking their content feeds from it. That said, much of Bill Gates CES opening keynote speech last night was spent discussing Microsoft's latest Windows operating system, Windows Vista, which isn't so exciting - though Vista does, in part, offer both high definition and digital home capabilities.

Speculation remains rife regarding what Steve Jobs will be announcing at his keynote address at the Macworld Expo event this week - with the iPod phone still a favourite. Though some wonder if the main topic for discussion will be previously announced Apple iTV set top box system, which is due to launch this quarter. Some reckon Apple may have some interesting iTV content partnerships to announce, including a possible collaboration with Google (now YouTube owners of course).

I guess we won't have to wait long to find out now.
