Jacko in talks with Universal to launch label?

FoxNews.com columnist Roger Friedman reports Michael Jackson is negotiating with Island Def Jam's LA Reid over a new label within Universal Music Group, possibly backed by a Bahraini prince.

According to FoxNews.com columnist Roger Friedman, Michael Jackson is negotiating with Island Def Jam chief LA Reid about setting up a new record label to be run by Jacko within the Universal Music Group. Apparently Jackson and music attorney Joel Katz have been meeting with Reid here in London at the Dorchester hotel, where Jackson is currently residing. Friedman reckons Jacko's new best friend, Bahraini prince Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, also in London at the moment, is the crucial player in these talks because his fortune would bank roll any joint venture with the major label (in the same way the prince's fortune is reportedly bank rolling the cash-poor Jacko's luxurious life style). It's all speculation of course, but we'll let you know if we hear anything else.
