Reporting to: Director of Marketing and Communications
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Location: Hybrid (London office with remote working)
Salary: £35,000+ (subject to experience)

Through advocacy, education and awards The Ivors Academy protects, empowers and celebrates the songwriters and composers who originate all the value in music.

Role summary

We’re looking for a creative, organised and passionate Social Media and Content Manager to join our collaborative marketing and communications team. This new full-time role is central to: 

  • Growing our membership
  • Increasing our global reputation
  • Showcasing our work, values and impact
  • Building an active and engaged digital community of songwriters and composers

The ideal candidate will have experience across content creation, video editing, social media management, and community engagement. You will be trend, algorithm and platform savvy, and ready to work with the Academy’s senior management team to plan, create and post daily content as part of cross-platform and cross-team campaigns that drive results and deliver our strategy and ambitious growth targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social media management

  • Develop and deliver platform-specific content and engagement plans for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, and X.
  • Plan, schedule, post and monitor content across all digital platforms.
  • With team support, develop awareness of the industry’s landscape and political environment, ensuring responses to comments, DMs and tags are made in a timely, friendly and professional manner.
  • With CEO support, strengthen the Academy’s voice and presence across digital platforms
  • Grow and nurture our online community through regular engagement, conversation and amplification.
  • Monitor trends, identify reactive opportunities and create quick-turnaround content to join relevant cultural moments.

Content creation

  • Create high-quality, engaging content tailored to each platform – from copy to graphics to short-form video.
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar aligned with campaigns, cultural moments and organisational priorities.
  • Source and repurpose user-generated content and member stories to amplify our community.
  • Attend events, capture and develop content promptly, ensuring the Academy has an active presence and immediate presence in social media. This will involve attending events outside of normal business hours.

Video production

  • Capture and edit short-form video for Reels, Stories, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
  • Film and edit footage at events, awards and Academy activities, producing quick-turnaround content and longer edits as needed.
  • Manage the Academy’s asset bank of raw footage, photos and graphics for use across campaigns.

Campaign delivery

  • Work with Membership Operations and Marketing Manager to develop and deliver ongoing campaigns that grow membership, raise global awareness and drive action.
  • Create and post content to support all Academy’s activities: awards, events, advocacy, partnerships and member benefits.
  • Manage and run paid campaigns. 

Community and member engagement

  • Directly contribute to significantly growing our membership, friends and supporters.
  • Cultivate a strong sense of community and belonging across platforms.
  • Oversee in-house community forum, encourage peer-to-peer interaction, shared experiences and conversation among members.
  • Support and amplify the Academy’s digital member space, driving traffic and engagement.

Reporting and analytics

  • Track, analyse and report on performance using platform insights and agreed KPIs.
  • Provide regular updates on what’s working, share learning with the team and suggest improvements.
  • Monitor performance of paid and organic content, contributing to data-driven decision making.
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by the CEO or Senior Management Team.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Minimum four years’ experience in a social media role in music, entertainment, the creative industries or similar spaces.
  • Proven track record of driving engagement, growing audiences and managing campaigns across multiple platforms.
  • Strong content creation and copywriting skills tailored to different platforms.
  • Skilled video editor with experience creating short-form content (e.g. Reels, TikToks).
  • Video editing skills (Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut).
  • Graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
  • Experience with paid media campaigns and A/B testing.
  • Experience building, engaging and growing an online community.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and performance reporting.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills - able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • A strong eye for brand consistency, tone of voice and storytelling.

Desirable

  • Experience working in music, creative industries or member-based organisations.
  • Experience managing community forums.
  • Experience with CRMs and members management. 
  • Knowledge of the challenges and interests of songwriters and composers.
  • Proactive, dynamic, highly creative and innovative.
