Lee Ann Womack and Keith Urban were the big winners at the Country Music Association Awards in New York, the first time the event has left Nashville in its 39-year history.

Your good friends Lee Ann Womack and Keith Urban were the big winners at the Country Music Association Awards in New York last night. Womack won both the Album and Single Of The Year awards, for 'There's More Where That Came From' and 'I May Hate Myself In The Morning' respectively, while Urban was named both Entertainer and Male Vocalist Of The Year. Other winners included Gretchen Wilson who won Top Female Vocalist, Jerry Douglas who was named Musician Of The Year, and songwriters Bill Anderson and Jon Randall, whose song 'Whiskey Lullaby', a hit for Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss, was named Song Of The Year.

The annual back slapping party for the country music industry was held in New York this year - the first time the event has left Nashville in its 39 year history. The change in location is part of a bid to push the country music genre in New York.
