Major ad agency buys into independent music firm The:Hours

Advertising agency Euro RSCG Worldwide has bought a 50% stake in The:Hours, a music business whose record label is distributed by Universal.

Advertising agency Euro RSCG Worldwide has bought a majority share in The:Hours, the previously reported new music business set up by former Recall Records bosses Alexandre Sap and Leslie Dubest, and media entrepreneur Fabien Moreau. The ad firm has taken a 50% stake in the company, which will operate a record label distributed by Universal and a 'music content production platform' aimed at brands wanting to use music as a marketing tool, which is presumably where Euro RSCG's interest comes from.

Confirming the deal between The:Hours and the ad agency, Dubest told reporters: "Joining the Euro RSCG family and working with their visionary executives as well as their talented creative teams is opening an array of great opportunities for us".

Speaking for Euro RSCG, their Global CEO David Jones added "It's an amazing time to be in our business and there are huge opportunities to be seized by those agencies that create new future-facing business models for their clients - we believe that music is one of those, hence this exciting initiative to acquire our own music agency and record label".

As previously reported, The:Hours will operate out of offices in New York, Paris and LA.
