CMU’s Pathways Into Music Foundation, which connects music industry and music education, is teaming up with Un-Convention to present a Music Industry + Music Education Conference at Band On The Wall in Manchester on Saturday 23 Nov.
The day will bring together music educators and the music industry to discuss the best ways to support future music talent, both on stage and behind the scenes.
Topics for discussion include what young people need to know to pursue a career in music, how educators can help young people think like an entrepreneur, and what music career resources are available and how educators can use them. Plus how can academia better support the music industry, and vice versa, and how are educators employing radical new thinking to better support new talent?
The conference, supported by Arts Council England, The Greater Manchester Music Commission and BIMM, is aimed at teachers, tutors and lecturers, and people working at education hubs, talent development programmes and youth organisations, as well as employers, executives and entrepreneurs from across the music industry who are involved in and/or passionate about supporting future talent.
Tickets are on sale now at a special early bird price of £25.
The MIME Conference sits alongside the latest edition of Un-Convention, which takes place on 21 and 22 Nov. This year’s Un-Convention will put the spotlight on developing regional scenes, music as a tool for social change, effective release and live strategies, and lots of other industry topics, as well as showcasing some of the finest new music from across the country. A number of free tickets for the MIME Conference will be available to people with Un-Convention passes.
