Real reports good financials as music sales rise

RealNetworks reported a profitable quarter with revenues up 15 percent, helped by a settlement with Microsoft and rising music subscribers.

Talking of good financials, RealNetworks have reported another profitable quarter, with revenues up 15%. The digital media firm's recent settlement of long running legal issues with Microsoft, coupled with a boost in subscribers, especially of music services, all helped the company achieve a record net income figure of $295.6 million. Music revenue was up 50% on 2004 figures - to $97.5 million. Announcing the figures, Real boss Rob Glaser told reporters: "2005 was a watershed year for RealNetworks: We achieved record annual revenue, returned the company to profitability, settled our antitrust litigation in a manner that generated significant shareholder value."
