In what sounds suspiciously like an Irish version of the Mercury Music Prize, we hear that twelve media types in Ireland are currently compiling a shortlist for the first ever Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year. Needless to say, albums from Irish artists from every genre you'd care to mention are being considered for the prize, so we can expect an eclectic shortlist when it is announced in January. The overall winner will be announced at an event over there in Dublin on 28 Feb. My money's on the Conway Sisters.
