Shortlist Music Prize announces 86-album long list

The Shortlist Organization has announced a long list of 86 albums, from which a top ten will be picked next month, with the winner revealed on 16 October.

The Shortlist Organization have announced their ‘long list’ – the 86 albums from which they will now pick a top ten next month before announcing the best overall album of the last twelve months on 16 Oct.

Artists on the Long List include: Interpol, The Mars Volta, Radiohead, the Music, Blur, Damien Rice and Bright Eyes.

The Shortlist is, of course, something of a US version of the Mercury Music Prize – though it’s getting bigger every year and will very soon be a much bigger affair than our own ‘best album of the year’ award.
