Sonic Youth compilation coming via Starbucks

A Sonic Youth compilation chosen by celebrities is reportedly being released via Starbucks-owned label HearMusic, with the band recording one new track.

A celeb selected Sonic Youth album is reportedly being released via the previously reported recently stepped up Starbucks owned record label HearMusic. Apparently famous names from the world of music, film and design will be invited to select their favourite Sonic Youth track for inclusion on the compo, and will provide some copy on why they like their chosen track so much. The band are also reportedly going to record one new track for the album. All of this comes from an interview with guitarist Thurston Moore published by Pitchfork last week, so it sounds pretty reliable, despite the slight oddity of a band like Sonic Youth aligning themselves with the coffee conglom.
