The Darkness win two awards at Kerrang! Awards

The Darkness won Best Album and Best Live Act at the Kerrang! Awards, Feeder took Best British Act and the Red Hot Chili Peppers received the Classic Songwriter Trophy.

East Anglia's finest, The Darkness, stole the show at the Kerrang! Awards yesterday, winning Best Album for 'Permission To Land' and Best Live Act, and performing their forthcoming single 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' due out next month.

The Darkness were the only band to win two awards and narrowly missed out on a third - with Welsh group Funeral For A Friend beating them to the title of Best British Newcomer.

Feeder picked up Best British Act after the year that members Grant Nicholas and Taka Hirose recover from the death of drummer John Lee – Nicholas dedicated the award to Lee. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers were honoured with the Classic Songwriter Trophy, and The Spirit Of Rock award, won by Jackass.

Excerpts from the awards ceremony are to be broadcast on Channel 4.
