The La's reform to play Summer Sonic Festival

The La's are reforming to play the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan in August, after their name appeared on the festival website.

More festival related stuff with the news that The La's are to reform to play the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan on 13 and

14 Aug. Rumours that the band might reunite, sparked by an admission last year made by band members John Power and Lee Mavers to the effect that they were again writing together, appear to have been confirmed after the band's name appeared on the Summer

Sonic Festival's official website. The La's Formed in 1990 and released their eponymous debut, which included the oh so catchy single 'There She Goes'.

Mavers hated the album, however, and the stresses of sessions for a second album along with rumours of Mavers' eccentricities and drug addiction proved too much, as Power left the group in an acrimonious split, and moved on to new project Cast. There's no indication as to what the line up of the band will be, but there are also whispers of other possible festival dates.

Also playing the Summer Sonic Festival this year are Weezer, Little

Barrie, Mew, Rooster, The Roots, The Tears, The Black Crowes,

The Arcade Fire, The Departure, Hal, Him, Ian Brown, Kasabian,

Teenage Fanclub, Nine Inch Nails, Oasis, Slipknot, and TV On

The Radio.
