Timberlake launches label with Interscope

Justin Timberlake has launched the joint venture label Tennman with Interscope, with Ken Losimar as President.

Justin Timberlake has just launched a record label. And he's going to be chairman of it. And CEO. Which all sounds rather grand. Presumably he'll be at the Interscope offices every day at 10am to attend marketing meetings and monitor radio plays and review retail reports and consider DRM policy. One would hope so. One would hope he's not just being called CEO to give the new Interscope imprint a bit of cool and really he'll just attend occasional meetings and enjoy lavish dinners on expenses while Ken Losimar, the former Sony VP who will be President of the new venture, does all the work. I'm sure that's not the case.

Anyway, here's what Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine told reporters about Tennman, his new JV label with Timberlake: "Whenever you have the opportunity to get into business with someone as gifted as Justin Timberlake, you take it. We are thrilled to have his label as part of Interscope".

The gifted Timberlake added these words: "We are all excited about the talent we have to offer already on our roster and I cannot wait to introduce the world to my new discoveries". Can't wait. No, really, I can't. Actually, I really can't. Look, there's sincerity here. All kinds of sincerity.

No word on whether Timberlake's business partnership with the Universal Music Group affects his record label relationship with SonyBMG's Jive in anyway.
