TuneTribe may go physical

Independent download site TuneTribe is negotiating a record distribution deal to help bands get their music into record shops, with co-founder John Strickland preferring that route over a label partnership.

Independent download site TuneTribe is negotiating a record distribution deal which means that not only will they support breaking talent online, they will be able to help bands get their music into record shops too. John Strickland, one of the site's founders, told reporters that he preferred the idea of a distribution deal rather than going into partnership with one label to release physical product: "If we signed up with a record label then TuneTribe would be associated with that label. We have always talked about the democratisation of music, so it would probably be a distribution deal".
