Music marketing firm Upshot Communications yesterday announced they had reached an agreement with Upfront Promotions regarding their 'Earshot' Service.
Earshot is one of Upshot's music promotion services - they supply music to a selection of outlets, stores and cafÈs, putting tracks from new artists into the 'earshot' of what they refer to as "22-35 year old lapsed record buyer market".
Confusingly another company called Upfront Promotions recently launched a similar service under the same name. Having been made aware of Upshot's existing service using the Earshot name, Upfront have agreed to rebrand - Upshot will continue to operate their Earshot service as before.
Upshot's Tom Roberts told CMU: "We have been running our Earshot service for over 18 months, and have run successful campaigns for the likes of Zero 7, The Fabric Label, Helicopter Girl, I Am Kloot, Jet and DJ Andy Smith amongst others. Confusion arose when Upfront Promotions launched a service using the same name. But we've rectified that problem now - Upfront will be using a different name - but we want to make sure product managers at labels are up to speed on everything. Meanwhile, Upshot wishes Upfront Promotions all the best with their own service in the future".
