V2 launch music business course bursary

V2 is funding one student's tuition fees and a five grand living allowance on Westminster University's MA Music Business Management, as part of its tenth anniversary celebrations.

V2 have announced an initiative being launched as part of their tenth anniversary celebrations which will see them fund a student studying on the MA Music Business Management programme at Westminster University's new and previously reported Westminster Centre Of Commercial Music. The new bursary scheme will see the indie label fund one student's tuition fees as well as making a five grand living allowance available. I think the idea is that someone who has already embarked on a career in music gets the bursary - either taking a sabbatical year to work for the MA, or studying for the degree part time.

Confirming the new programme, V2 Business Development And Digital Media Director Beth Appleton told CMU: "V2's 10th anniversary is focusing on giving something back to the independent sector. The passion and professionalism of individuals that work in the music industry is a key part of the business and at V2 we have sought to involve ourselves with the music executives of the future and give them an insight into the business. Presenting a series of lectures to Westminster University was thoroughly rewarding and to continue this partnership, we are very proud to be providing a scholarship to invest in a key educational programme for the UK music business".

Sally Gross, Director of the college's MA programme, added: "Over the last ten years the music industry in the UK has been making a concerted effort to up the anti in terms of professional standards, and the creation of the MMF and AIM training courses were exactly the kind of positive steps the industry needed. At Westminster we have taken it one step further by developing a masters programme specifically for music industry professionals. Our aim is to produce industry leaders who can operate at the highest level across the ever changing music entertainment panorama".
