Waterloo voted best Eurovision song ever

Abba's 'Waterloo' has been voted the best Eurovision song of the contest's fifty-year history, with Bucks Fizz's entry missing the top five.

It's not a huge surprise that 'Waterloo' was voted the best song on the fifty year history of the Eurovision song contest, but I am surprised and disappointed that Bucks Fizz's 'Making Your Mind Up' wasn't in the top five. As you may know, a fiftieth birthday celebration for the Song Contenst was held at the weekend in Copenhagen, with many former acts returning to relive their former, er, glory. Dana International, Johnny Logan, the glorious Brotherhood of Man and the aforementioned Bucks Fizz were there, but the members of Abba didn't attend, presumably because they are no longer members of Abba.

Anyway, the public voted on a shortlist of 14 and came up with this top five. Unbelievably, this year's appalling, yet winning, entry made it to number four:

1: Waterloo - Abba, Sweden, 1974

2: Nel Blu, Di Pinto Di Blu (Volare) - Domenico Modugno, Italy, 1958

3: Hold Me Now - Johnny Logan, Ireland, 1987

4: My Number One - Helena Paparizou, Greece, 2005

5: Save Your Kisses For Me - Brotherhood Of Man, UK, 1976
