Verraco, the alias of JP López, is a Colombian producer and DJ whose work resists easy categorisation. It bubbles over with South American dembow rhythms, the maximalist basslines of UK soundsystem culture, meticulous IDM sound design, and the intensity and precision of techno.

New single ‘Basic Maneuvers’ - the title track of his new EP, his debut on XL out at the end of this month - is a high-energy 4x4 club cut destined for large sound systems.

The EP’s creation reflects a personal journey. What began in Medellín evolved over several months after Verraco relocated to Bogotá, where he now runs the Escándaloo club series. That shift, from the more introspective beauty of Medellín to the vibrant energy of Colombia’s capital, became the emotional and creative fuel that finished the EP. The result is a reflection of movement between scenes, sounds and cities.

‘Basic Maneuvers’ is a testament to Verraco’s commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining Latinx electronic music on his own terms.
