Coke and Apple announce European alliance

Coca-Cola and Apple have announced a pan-European partnership giving away iTunes downloads and iPods via cans and bottles, and co-sponsoring music events across Europe.

Coke and Apple have announced a new pan-European partnership which will see the fizzy drink company give away downloads and iPods via two billion cans and bottles. The two brands will also co-sponsor various music events across Europe. Here's what iTunes VP Eddy Cue had to say about the cola promotion: "iTunes is the world's most popular online music store selling 58 songs every second at a rate of 5 million tracks a day. We've already had great success working with Coca-Cola over the past year and this new pan-European initiative gives music fans across Europe the ability to download free music all summer long". Coke's iTunes alliance follows the closure last year of the drinks brand's own UK based download platform, MyCokeMusic.
