Microsoft sign up NME as rock partner

Microsoft has named NME its primary worldwide rock content partner, with NME providing branded content including playlists for the Zune Marketplace.

Microsoft have announced that NME will be its "primary worldwide content partner" for the rock genre. The IPC owned title will provide branded content for Microsoft's version of iTunes, the Zune Marketplace, including playlists and features on classic albums.

Commenting on the partnership, Zune's lead music programmer Kyle Hopkins told reporters: "We are thrilled to be working with NME. I remember the first time I saw their magazine as a kid, and I have been a fan ever since. These guys consistently produce killer content year after year while staying true to their roots. Having NME content appear in Zune Marketplace alongside ours is incredibly exciting and will help us provide our customers a very cool and interesting perspective on music".

I don't know which NME he's been reading of late. Only joking. We love the NME. Though those copies of the NME Essential compilation are yet to arrive at CMU HQ. So that could change.
