Universal Music has licensed the eponymous album from US pop punk band The Jonas Brothers for European release, which everyone seems to think is big news, so look, I'm reporting on it, even though I've never heard of The Jonas Brothers. And I've just found out only three fifths of the band are actually brothers, which is a scandal if you ask me. The band are signed to Disney's Hollywood Records in the US, and will be released via Polydor over here.
Universal Music International Exec VP Max Hole said yesterday: "We are thrilled to be working with the Jonas Brothers and the successful team at Disney's Hollywood Records. This band is one of our key priorities for Europe, and we are keen on creating the same phenomenon in the region that has taken hold in the US".
David Joseph, President, Universal Music Operations, added: "If the reaction of the team at Polydor is anything to go by, this could be the biggest pop invasion to come over from the US in many, many years".
I'm starting to feel very foolish for never having heard of these guys. Or for buying into the manufactured hype, one or the other.
