The Who have signed with Universal Republic for Endless Wire, their first new studio album since 1982, which will include the mini-opera Wire & Glass.

The Who have signed a new deal with Universal Republic which will see the major release 'Endless Wire', the band's first new studio album since 1982's 'It's Hard'. The new long player will include a recording of mini-opera 'Wire & Glass', a shortened version of which was released last month. According to Billboard, other tracks expected to appear include 'Mike Post Theme' and 'Man In A Purple Dress'.

The new deal is part of an ongoing relationship between The Who and Universal Music. They released the band's 2004 retrospective 'Then & Now', and are also in the process of reissuing Pete Townshend's entire solo catalogue through their Hip-O imprint.
