Walmart to push Apple iPod Shuffle in US stores

Walmart is reportedly finalising a promotional deal with Apple to give the cheaper iPod Shuffle priority positioning in 5000 US stores from March.

While Wal-mart's own download platform is very much a Microsoft based service ("Note: NOT compatible with iPod"says their home page), the US supermarket giant is reportedly set to give Apple's economy line iPod Shuffle a real push in their

American stores from Mar. Word is they are finalising a promotional deal right now with Apple which will see them give the new players priority positioning in 5000 stores plus profile in their monthly circulars. No word on whether the players will be stickered with the message "Note: NOT compatible with Walmart Music

Downloads".

With similar deals reportedly being done with the likes of mainstream electronics retailer Best Buy, Apple seem to be aiming for the mainstream as they roll out their cheaper iPod in America.
