Warner/Chappell announce pan-European licences

Warner/Chappell has signed pan-European licence deals with STIM, GEMA and MCPS-PRS, joining EMI, Universal and Peermusic in offering such licences.

Talking of MIDEM, another story from there for you. Publishing major Warner/Chappell is the latest to announce the launch of pan-European licences. It has said it has signed deals with three separate collecting societies all of which will now offer the pan-European licences. The societies chosen are Sweden's STIM, Germany's GEMA and the good old MCPS-PRS here in the UK. EMI Music Publishing already offer pan-European licences, while both Universal Music Publishing and independent publishers Peermusic announced similar arrangements at MIDEM this week. The aim of the pan-European arrangements is to make things easier for digital music services looking to launch Europe wide music services, and also to create a more competitive market place in the collecting society sector.
