Formerly known as Purple Pilgrims – under which name they released two albums – Clementine Valentine have now returned with their first new music since 2019 – a song called ‘Endless Night’.
“All songs are moments in time trapped in amber, this one feels particularly so”, they say of the new track. “A relic of a past joy, crystallised behind dusty glass. Part self-fulfilling prophecy, part heartfelt sarcasm”.
While their name may have changed, their sound remains happily familiar, with sisters Clementine and Valentine Nixon’s soprano vocals – at times reminiscent of Marianne Faithfull – sitting above music that falls somewhere between dream-pop and indie-folk.
The wait for new music may have been somewhat lengthy, but this is apparently the first taste of more to come, so now is the time to prick up your ears.
