Recent Big Dada signee Rahill has announced that she will release her first album for the label, titled ‘Flowers At Your Feet’, in May this year.
The record follows last year’s covers EP ‘Sun Songs’, and alongside the new announcement we have the album’s first single ‘I Smile For E’. Musically the track draws on various genres, including pop, trip-hop and jazz, with a warm, nostalgic feel that reflects the lyrics about family and in particular Rahill’s late aunt.
“‘I Smile For E’ is about losing and grieving but also celebrating and honouring the ones we’ve loved and are connected to”, she explains.
“My aunt Elaheh – ’E’ – was the rock of my father’s family and her absence has been really heartbreaking to process, but the love shared for her and the connection I still feel to her outshine the devastation of a loss from the physical realm. I still carry her with me, ‘I Smile For E’ is a reminder to anyone who is walking with that pain and grief”.
Out on 12 May, ‘Flowers At Your Feet’ also includes a collaboration with Beck, which seems like a pretty solid stamp of approval. Watch the video for ‘I Smile For E’ here:
